OUR HOLIDAY: part three

This year we decided to head to my Grandparent's house for a few days before our St Ives holiday began, and I'm so happy we did. It was lovely to spend some time with my Grandma and Grandpa, just us four, and the girls absolutely loved it - as did my Grandparent's of course! Our days there were filled with adventures, but also plenty of sitting and running around the garden. My Grandma gave the girls trinkets and treasures a plenty and Ben helped my Grandpa with a few things around the garden that he hadn't got round to doing. And of course we ate (aka were force fed!) waaaaay to much food.

We'll definitely be making these few days with my grandparent's a regular thing before our St Ives holidays. It made this year's holiday extra special.

OUR HOLIDAY: part two

Josephine is obsessed with horses right now. I think I've mentioned here that she has an invisible one called Isobel, and when you go into her room in the morning her bed is likely to be filled with them (unicorns and My Little Pony included) and a copy of Pony magazine. When she grows up, she wants to be a horse rider. So Ben and I planned a special treat for her. This was the stables my Dad and my aunties would ride at when they were on holiday in St Ives when they were small, so it's a pretty special place.

Phiney was so excited when we told her at breakfast. Her horse, Flora, was beautiful and she jumped on her like a pro - no hesitation or nerves. Ben had a huge and rather grumpy horse called Tonto and he said that as they were trekking he would see her slowly let go of the reins with one hand an stroke Flora on the back :) She trotted too, and came back full of how amazing and wonderful it had been. How lucky we are to be able to offer our girls these kind of experiences.

Coralie wanted her own horse too and so the brown one in the field is hers, in case she asks you. We went off to enjoy a yummy ice cream at the local tearoom with my grandparents while Ben and Phiney rode, but I can't wait for Coralie to be old enough and we can all go together.

This really was such an awesome morning. Magical...

OUR HOLIDAY IN CORNWALL: part one

So I'm finally sharing photos from our holiday! I have split them into (a lot!!) of posts as I want them all here in our journal, so please excuse the slew of holiday snaps!!

After arriving at my Grandparent's house after midnight, we awoke the next morning to two very excited little girls who were finally on holiday! I'd wanted to visit Carn Galver mine for a few years, but it always seemed a bit much for tiny Coralie. This year however seemed like a good time to visit and I'm so glad we did. The scenery was amazing and the walk down to the cliffs was brilliant. Josephine likened it to the time of the dinosaurs, and she was absolutely right. It felt like we'd stepped back a million years. The ruins of old stone houses were perfect for exploring and the wildflowers were beautiful. We'll definitely be heading there again next year, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is heading in that direction.
