WHAT CORALIE WORE

WEARING: Baby Gap top // Coco &Wolf bloomers // La Coqueta tights // Clarks boots

Exploring every nook, searching and trying to catch ants and spiders and desperately trying to escape out of the back gate. Garden times with Coralie.

RAINY DAYS: bird watching [part three]

I find the girls watching the rain out of our bedroom window nearly every time it falls, but Coralie especially will stand there entranced for ages. Watching the birds and shouting with glee whenever one lands in the tree by the window. On this occasion she was talking to the huge wood pigeon that was walking around the garden eating whatever it could find. She rarely stays so still for so long!

Bird watching, parts one and two. A little tradition in our little home.

HERE AND THERE

You may have noticed that right now, this little blog of mine is being featured all over the place...

The ever so lovely Bron asked me to be part of her Meet the Mama series, and my answers are up on her blog now.

Kirsty from Here Comes Baby has featured Josephine's nursery over at Spearmint Baby, where I've shared how to achieve an eclectic vintage space for your child.

And we've also taken part in Charlotte's awesome At Home With series over at her brilliant blog.

Thank you all lovely ladies for asking me to take part. Go check them out :)

Photos of our home by Tori, of course.

You could say that getting pregnant, and hence being too tired to sort out ANYTHING, is not necessarily the best plan when you’ve just moved house. OK, so there aren’t many boxes left to unpack, but the walls remain bare and pictures are still leaning against the wall, the sideboard and bookshelf tops are still empty and the towels in the bathroom are still perched on the window seat rather than stacked neatly on the shelves we still need to put up. To be fair, B’s happy to get on with a lot of it, but the boy’s all too aware that I have a very specific idea of how it needs to be done and that it’s just not worth doing until I say so.

So enough is enough. That’s right people, it’s time to write a list. When something needs sorting, a list can never fail you and I think this one’s gonna be a goody. By which I mean long. Very, very long.

Here’s a couple of things topping the Must Do Soon section…
1. Print off some wedding pictures to complete the collage type thing I started about 8 months ago.
2. Print off some pictures of all the gorgeous kiddos in our lives to update the ones that are now pretty old. They’ve all grown at least 6 inches since those were taken.
3. Work out where some of the furniture in the living room and kitchen should go. Right now a few pieces look rather plonked.
4. Get some curtains up in the bedroom. B is not the right person to be woken up at 5am by light pouring through gaps in the shutters.
5. Find a few more random picture frames to complete the photo wall I’ve been planning. Luckily this shop provided some awesome vintage postcards to be included and today I finally found the perfect little plate to hang too.

And that’s just the beginning. Bigger things include finding new-to-us, mis-matched dining chairs to replace the rather horrid ones we bought for our first flat four years ago and saving a bit more money to finally buy a laptop so we can get rid of the ugly computer and computer table from the living room.

There’s only one problem. While I think it’s slowly leaving, the sleepiness is still there. Hanging around. And just thinking about this list makes me need a nap. Perhaps I’ll tackle it tomorrow.

Pictures from The Selby. Always inspirational and a website/book that has taken many a spare hour from me.

ps. I promise a little bump picture soon…thank you for such sweet requests to see how it’s coming along x

It’s now been over a month since we moved into our house and it’s still looking, well, a bit of a mess really. Bags filled with picture frames and other fragile bits and bobs are still sitting where we left them about 3 weeks ago and there just seems to be stuff everywhere. I have to admit, I’m really over this whole unpacking thing now. It’s taking too much time and effort for my liking and really we just want to be out in the garden enjoying the sunshine. I’d love to wake up tomorrow morning and find that little cleaning fairies have come in and sorted it all out. That would be lovely.

We're alive, we made it, the moving is done. Last weekend was so tough. Completely exhausting in fact. And then to top it all off, we had to work all week. Now we have 11 days off though. 11 days to make our new house a home. Thanks to a few hours here and there after work, the boxes are being unpacked but it's still a mission to find anything. I can't wait until it's all sorted and we can sit back and admire our interior handy work. Until then, any sneaky pictures will have to wait. Boxes on top of boxes does not an interesting photo make.

Step outside however and it's a different story. This is our garden. It's a beautiful space. Considering the main road lies just in front of our house, it's so peaceful. Just the noise of the local kids playing outside and a few birds chattering away. We have big plans for this corner. B's designated a whole section to fruit and vegetable beds and I'm determined to create our own little cottage garden. And thanks to the BBQ my Dad gave me as an early birthday present (27 in two weeks. Yikes) there will be plenty of gatherings to enjoy it this summer.

ps. Happy Easter to you all. I'm planning on engulfing myself in chocolate, guilt-free. Heavenly.

Our flat is a little bit mis-matched. The shelves are lined with books and records and pictures and trinkets and vases and any other random bits and bobs we’ve collected over the years. But that’s the way we like it.

These awesomely bizarre papier-mâché figures and prints are some of our favourites. My Dad found them at the Festival of the Dead in Mexico and I adopted them when he moved house. Originally we were looking after them while he found somewhere new to live, but he soon realised he wouldn’t be getting them back so they’re here for good. My favourite is the little bride and groom.

This weekend we plan to finally frame and hang the prints. They’ve been in a carrier bag in a cupboard for too long so enough is enough. They’re a freaky kind of beautiful.

So, the essay-like posts have finally come to an end! Hoorah! And here in the Mallia household we’re settling into married life rather well after a month of wedding fun. The sun is shining and I’m slowly tidying away the debris left by the wedding bomb that appears to have exploded in our living room.
I’m clearing off shelves and have several bags of goodies for the charity shop and actually having a lot of fun doing it. Does that make me lame? I don’t think so.
