These awesomely bizarre papier-mâché figures and prints are some of our favourites. My Dad found them at the Festival of the Dead in Mexico and I adopted them when he moved house. Originally we were looking after them while he found somewhere new to live, but he soon realised he wouldn’t be getting them back so they’re here for good. My favourite is the little bride and groom.
This weekend we plan to finally frame and hang the prints. They’ve been in a carrier bag in a cupboard for too long so enough is enough. They’re a freaky kind of beautiful.
My parents have all these wonderful Dia de los Muertos things they've collected over the years (along with lots of other Latin American art); they display most of it in our dining room, and it's quite the conversation starter!
ReplyDeleteThose are delightful :)
ReplyDeletewells that's quite an eclectic collection you've got there!
ReplyDeleteI quite like the bride and groom too...spookily cute :) xx
ReplyDeletei have some of these, i just love them! i searched all over mexico city just to find them which was harder than expected.
ReplyDeleteare you feeling better? hope your cough isn't keeping you up anymore.
Love them! Very quirky! I have a mistmatched house too and I love it! It shows off who we are, not who some designer thinks we should be. (That being said, I still lust over lovely magazine houses...)
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE Dia de los Muertos! GREAT figures, and agreed - bride & groom are my favorite for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love freaky so I love your house already!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for mismatched. Matchy-matchy houses just feel a bit wrong to be. It's weird but I don't love things as much if they're perfect.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon. xx
ps. good luck with the hunt for your brogues. very important search you have ahead ;)
Ooo love the day of the dead figurines! Very appropriate for this weekend!
